Iryna Khrebtova Gris
Based in Montreal, Iryna Khrebtova Gris is a Ukrainian-Canadian classical pianist who works as a soloist, accompanist, chamber musician, choir director, and music director/organist at the Maisonneuve Presbyterian Church of Canada. She has performed in numerous international concerts and festivals, including on the stages of the SYCM Concert Hall in Shenyang, China; the Varna Summer International Music Festival in Bulgaria; the Odessa State Conservatory in Ukraine; the University of North Carolina in the United States; and the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada.
Iryna received her early training at the renowned Stolyarsky School of Music under the legendary Professor Irina Balashova, and later completed her Master’s degree in Piano Performance at the Odessa State Conservatory.
Later on, Iryna continued her studies at the University of Western Ontario and spent two years at the University of North Carolina as a vocal and choral accompanist. She has been heard in numerous Montreal recitals with Caroline Holden, Joanne Grant, Camerata West, Tristan Lauber, and Nina Farvarshuk, among other soloists. Iryna also served as a pianist and music director for the Montreal West Operatic Society. She is the former artistic director of the Maisonneuve Music Festival and a former music director at the Presbyterian Church of Canada.
Currently a music teacher and artistic director of the music program at Emmanuel Christian School, Iryna has also begun her PhD studies at the Université de Montréal.
Iryna teaches students of all levels and ages at Ilovepiano Music Studio in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec, and performs both as a soloist and in chamber ensembles.
She is an active member of the Canadian Music Teachers’ Association and a former member of the American Music Teachers’ Association.
